Hungary reintroduced its Golden Visa Program, formally known as the Guest Investor Program (GIP), on July 1, 2024, providing a pathway for non-EU nationals to obtain long-term residency through substantial investment in the country.
Investment Options
Applicants can currently choose one of the following investment routes to qualify.
- Investment in Real Estate Funds: A minimum investment of €250,000 in a state-approved real estate investment fund, with a mandatory holding period of at least five years.
- Charitable Donation: A non-refundable donation of €1 million to a Hungarian higher education institution, aimed at supporting scientific research or artistic activities.
Application Process:
- Guest Investor Visa: Applicants begin by obtaining this temporary visa, valid for up to six months, allowing entry into Hungary to fulfill investment requirements.
- Investment Completion: Within 93 days of the first entry into Hungary with the Guest Investor Visa, applicants must complete their chosen investment.
- Residence Permit Application: After finalizing the investment, applicants can apply for a 10-year renewable residence permit.
Key Benefits:
- Extended Residency: The program grants a 10-year residence permit, renewable for an additional 10 years.
- Family Inclusion: Applicants can include spouses, minor children, and dependent parents in the application.
- Schengen Area Access: Permit holders can travel visa-free within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
- No Mandatory Stay: There are no minimum stay requirements to maintain the residence permit.
Considerations:
While the program offers a pathway to permanent residency and potential citizenship, obtaining citizenship requires meeting additional criteria, including language proficiency and continuous residence.
We provide comprehensive due diligence and professional legal guidance to ensure that the Hungarian Golden Visa Program aligns with your long-term residency and financial goals.
